Daily Discipleship: Following Jesus each Day in a Life Transforming Relationship
This Autumn, we will be doing a very important series on our daily discipleship as Christians. There are 4 aspects to this daily discipleship which are also reflective of our Values as a Church:
Connecting #CloseToGod: Come near to God and He will come near to you. James 4:8.
Learning #LivingLightly: Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart … for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:29-30.
Being #OpenHearted: Accept one another then, just as Christ accepted you. Romans 15:7.
Sharing #OutwardLooking: Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15.
If we are to follow Jesus each day, we first of all need to be connected to Him in a meaningful way. The word “disciple” literally means “learner”, so we then learn and change through this relationship. Thus discipleship is not in fact another activity which we do as Christians, rather it is a way of being for the follower of Christ. This naturally then leads to us sharing God’s love and message with those around us. Four aspects, or pieces, all of which are necessary to consider when we think about our daily discipleship.
This series will not say everything that could possibly be said about our discipleship, but what it will offer is things that we can use to help us grow and develop in these four aspects of our daily discipleship.
