Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. It is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes, bars—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation. Each talk lasts around 30 minutes and is designed to engage and inspire conversation. The talks address questions including Is there more to life than this?, Who is Jesus?, Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?
At Horndean Baptist Church, we’ll be running an Alpha this Autumn. It will take place in Oh So’s Cafe (what was Horndean Post Office), in Horndean, on Tuesday evenings from 6.45p.m. to 9.00p.m. starting on Tuesday 13 September and running until Tuesday 6 December (with a break on Tuesday 25 October). You’ll be welcomed with hot drinks, and dinner will be served at 7.00 p.m. After dinner, we’ll watch one of the Alpha talks on DVD and then have a break for more drinks. The post-talk conversations will take place in groups of 10-12 people and will finish promptly at 9.00pm.
